Happy Secret Challenge: Day 3

I am creating/participating in a Happy Secret Challenge inspired by a TED video I recently watched.

My goal for the next 21 days is to write three gratitudes and to journal about one positive experience from the day.  The gratitudes can be trivial or deep.  And even on the toughest of days there is at least ONE thing that is positive or goes well.

Gratitude: thankfulness, gratefulness or appreciation;
a feeling or attitude in recognition of a benefit that someone has received.

The goal is to retrain your brain to begin to look for the positives instead of the negatives.  There are other pieces to the challenge as well but for today we start with these two:

Three Gratitudes:
7. I am grateful for the shelves of books in my room and on my Nook app just waiting to be read!

8. I am grateful for the memories I am able to cherish of my Oma before she got sick.  Before she started to forget.  Working next to her at my mini-desk, filling make believe Mary Kay orders, helping at a garage sale, making coffee, playing dress up.  I am grateful for the memories that I can hold on to and that no one can take away from me.

9. I am grateful for my heritage.  I love looking at old pictures, researching our family tree, looking in to my ancestors came from.  I find it all so fascinating.  And as I work to find who I am, it helps me... comforts me to look at how I got here.  At the people in my family who came before me.

I am grateful.

One Positive From The Last 24 Hours:
I was leading my youth groups Sunday morning gathering today, and it was great to have a chance to catch up with students.  To see their tired faces early on a Sunday light up with laughter at a comment or story someone shared.  To share a moment of surprise, maybe shock, and sadness talking about a current event.
